As I look back on this year at Baby Bear Farm, I do so with a full heart and a deep sense of gratitude. This season wasn’t without its challenges. The heavy rains we experienced throughout spring and summer meant fewer lavender blooms than we had hoped for. Nature, as always, reminded us who is in charge. Still, through care, patience, and a lot of muddy boots, we were able to keep our product production steady—and for that, I’m very thankful.
One of the brightest highlights of this year has been our partnership with the beautiful Mountain Lake Lodge, the iconic filming location of the movie Dirty Dancing. It means so much to us that Baby Bear Farm lavender and essential oils are now part of their signature Lavender Escape spa treatments. Knowing that our lavender—grown right here in the Blue Ridge Mountains—helps bring calm, comfort, and healing to guests is incredibly meaningful. You can experience our Provence Lavender Foot Soak and Provence Lavender Body Scrub at their newly opened spa, and find our lavender favorites at the Salt Pond Living Gift Store.
This year also brought the joy of introducing three new products I’m especially proud of: our Provence Lavender Citrus Cookie Mix Bag, Provence Lavender Bath Soak, and Provence Lavender Body Scrub. Each one was created with clean ingredients and your wellness in mind. If you haven’t tried them yet, I hope you’ll treat yourself—you deserve it.
Last Sunday’s Dog Bowl Market at Black Dog Salvage marked our final in-person event of 2025. Many thanks to our incredible community for shopping with us and for shopping our products for their loved ones. Looking ahead, we’re excited to kick off the new year at the Taste of Virginia Expo & Marketplace on Saturday, January 10th, from 12–6 PM, at the Crystal Ballroom at Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke —a free, public celebration of Virginia’s local foods, beverages, and artisan creations.
