The origin of Lavender is believed to be from the Mediterranean & Middle East. Its history goes back some 2500 years. Lavender is a flowering plant of the mint family known for its beauty, its sweet floral fragrance & its multiple uses.
The ancient Greeks called Lavender nardus, after the Syrian city of Naarda and was commonly called Nard. Lavender was one of the holy herbs used to prepare the Holy Essence, Nard or Spikenard (mentioned in both Old & New Testaments of the Bible).
Lavender derives its name from the Latin ‘lavare’ meaning ‘to wash”. The Romans used Lavender to scent their baths, beds, clothes & hair. They also discovered many of its medicinal properties.
Today we’re blessed to cultivate & grow lavenders in majestic Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Beautiful flowers, alluring scent & many therapeutic uses (e.g., depression, insomnia, anxiety & fatigue).
Whatever you’re going through in life. May the power of nature heal you and the sweet spirit of lavenders bless you.
